International US-Accredited Medical Schools

According to the Liaison Committee on Medical Education, the only U.S. accredited medical schools internationally lies in our northern neighbor Canada. There are approximately 17 accredited MD programs in Canada. They provide professional development and continuing educational courses that focus on clinical research for prospective and returning students.
  1. University of Montreal Faculty of Medicine

    • The University of Montreal Faculty of Medicine is one of the four schools in Quebec and offers several programs of health education including undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate education. This Faculty of Medicine currently has 4,500 students, 400 professors, 1,600 clinical professors, and more than 20,000 graduates. Admissions for residents, non-residents, and international students are currently accepted and are due by November 1st with registration for classes due by March 1st. Financial aid and student services are available to students who need the resources to complete their degree plan through loan programs, awards in Quebec and other provinces in Canada, work-study programs, emergency assistance and cash advance.

    University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine

    • Located on the very northwest tip of Vancouver, the University of British Columbia Faculty of Medicine has over 2,590 undergraduates, graduates and postgraduate students. Programs offered include bachelor's in medical laboratory science and midwifery, masters in occupational therapy, physical therapy, health administration, health science and doctor of medicine, and 62 postgraduate residency training programs. It is also networks with research centers across the province such as Center for Blood Research, Center for Disease Control, Center for Health Services & Policy Research and Biomedical Research Center. It is currently accepting domestic and international applicants.

    University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine

    • Boasting to be one of the largest, most innovative and rigorous curricula offered for an undergraduate medical program, the University of Toronto Faculty of Medicine educates its students through research, application, collaboration communication of knowledge and self-discovery. The selection process limits the medical program to 259 students for 2011, identifying the best possible candidates through overall achievements in academic and non-academic points. For advanced degrees, a graduate can go through post-MD training, master's and PhD programs with fully affiliated hospitals and research institutes which are part of the Toronto Academic Heath Science Network.

    University of Calgary Faculty of Medicine

    • Established in 1967, the Calgary Faculty of Medicine has researched brain tumor, joint injury and arthritis and juvenile diabetes treatment, and found fundamental discoveries in cancer which resulted in over 20 international collaborations. The school offer programs in biochemical technology, cardiovascular and respiratory sciences, microbiology and infectious diseases and health sciences with increasing access to graduate science programs for students. There are institutes within the University of Calgary Faculty of Medicine in joint cooperation with the Calgary Health Region to support specific areas of education. Alberta Bone & Joint Health Institute, Hotchkiss Brain Institute, Southern Alberta Cancer Research Institute and the Institute of Maternal & Child Health are thematic institutes that were formed for research and care delivery.
