Since 1988, the National Law School of India University has been offering courses in teaching Indian law in undergraduate, post-graduate and research programs. The school was set up after many decades with the co-operation of the Karnataka Government, the Bangalore University and the initiatives of senior members of the Bar Council of India. A large number of active and retired judges work with professors and students at the university as well, giving students real world experience as to what the court system in India will be like when they graduate. Graduates either go into the court systems and practice law for small firms or on their own, or become legal consultants, sometimes working for international companies within India.
