Undergraduate Law Colleges

Undergraduate law colleges, also known as pre-law schools, offer academic programs that prepare students for law school. These programs comprise of courses that are geared toward helping students to develop the skills and receive the training and education they need to succeed in law school and beyond. Undergraduate law colleges that offer preparatory law school programs include New York University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, University of California Santa Barbara and the University of Illinois Urbana.

    • New York University has one of the top law schools in the country, offering considerable pre-law opportunities to prospective law students. The university facilitates the admission of undergraduate law student hopefuls to the New York University Undergraduate Law Society. This gives undergraduate students interested in law the opportunity to participate in different course-related events hosted by the NYU Undergraduate Law Society. The program also helps students to prepare for law school by guiding and advising them through the often complex admission process.

    Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute

    • Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute is located in New York and offers an undergraduate law program that gives prospective students the opportunity for exposure to particular areas of specialty, such as environmental law and intellectual property law. Pre-law students can also visit law firms to gain exposure to the legislative process in various types of agencies and settings.     • The University of Illinois Urbana gives undergraduate law students the opportunity to receive a well-rounded education as well as to work with experienced instructors. The undergraduate law program is comprised of courses such as debating, writing and public speaking, all vitally important in helping students to develop the skills they need to become a successful attorney. Students participating in the pre-law program are required to complete an internship and participate in a study-abroad program.
