Organize test and personal information and review test material. Determine how much additional study is needed and choose a date which allows enough preparation time; the scholastic achievement exam is offered for six dates each year. Contact the SAT phone registration service and schedule a re-take as soon as possible to ensure a seat at the test center.
Register for the SAT by phone through the College Board website (see References 1). International and toll-free phone numbers will be found here. To register, be ready to confirm existing registration information. This option charges the test taker a small additional fee in addition to the exam fees, and is only for students who have already sat for the exam.
Study for the test with the free subject tests available through the registration center, local library or high school. For difficulty in a particular subject, sign up for tutoring or pay for an SAT preparation course. Courses are offered live through traditional and online classroom settings, and provide the student an opportunity to practice for the big day with full-length exams.
The night before the test day, check off the list of materials needed and organize them in a carrying bag. Go to bed early and set two alarms to wake up on time in the morning. Remember to bring the SAT admission pass, a calculator, two types of official identification, and two pencils of number-2 grade.
Pack snacks to prevent hunger, and keep extra batteries in a backpack for any equipment being used. Contact the registration center well in advance of the test date to make accommodations for religious practices, disabilities, or other special circumstances.
