How to Register for the SAT or PSAT

Taking the SAT is a requirement for admission to many colleges. SAT scores are used along with other requirements, such as grade point average and transcripts, as a means of determining whether to admit a student. The PSAT is an optional practice test that students may take to prepare for the SAT. Receiving a high score on the PSAT qualifies a student for a National Merit Scholarship. While the SAT is offered seven times a year, the PSAT is offered only on two days in October. The PSAT is administered by high schools. Contact your high school counselor or principal to request information about the registering for the PSAT, testing dates and fees.
