How to Make an SAT Vocabulary Cartoon Book

The SATs are an important part of every American high-school student's educational career. High SAT scores can help you get the edge over every other student with a 4.0 GPA who is applying to the same schools you are. Similarly, a low SAT score might ultimately be the thing that prevents you from getting into your dream school. Students can study for the vocabulary portion of the SATs in a variety of ways, but visual learners might find a picture book to be particularly helpful.

Instructions

    • 1

Read through your SAT vocabulary list and mark off any words you already know.

    • 2

Write each word that you do not know, followed by the definition, at the top of a blank page of your sketchbook. Give each word its own page in the book. For example, if your first word is "oblique," write: "Oblique: slanted or leaning" at the top of the first page. Write your second word and its definition on the next page, write the third word and its definition on the third page, and continue sequentially until you complete your list.

    • 3

Draw a cartoon that represents each word according to its definition on the same page as the word. For example, for "oblique," you might draw the Leaning Tower of Pisa.

    • 4

Write a phrase that uses the word in the context of your image below the image. For example, for "oblique," you might write, "The Leaning Tower of Pisa's obliqueness offers tourists plenty of clever photo opportunities."

    • 5

Review your book carefully and correct any spelling errors and mismatched definitions.
