How do I Write a Fact Book?

A fact book is a publication created by a college or university to provide basic information about the university for incoming students, current students and staff. Although most schools will also place much of this information in an official catalog, the fact book is meant to a quick and user-friendly way to access needed facts. If you have been tasked with creating your school's fact book, there are a number of things you will want to include.

Instructions

    • 1

Add general information at the beginning of your fact book about the school. This can include things like its size, location, number of students and faculty and so on. This might be a good location to include information about the school's sports teams.

    • 2

Make the next section about the programs offered at the school, as well as the types of degrees offered by the various departments. If you have a new program you are especially excited about, you will want to make mention of this. Also, if your school is preeminent in some area of research, point this out as well, perhaps including a photo of the researchers involved and their innovations.

    • 3

Explain in the next section about the school's admissions policies with regard to placement tests or other factors. Add a section about the fees and tuition charged. After that, point out the help that can be obtained from the financial aid department. Then, to help justify the monies charged, include a run down of the school's expenses.

    • 4

Make the last part of the fact book a recitation of the various resources and facilities the school has to offer. This could include the library, student housing, the student center and a parking deck.
