An applicant's performance on standardized tests factor heavily into admission decisions. If an applicant takes the SAT, a minimum total score of 1360 is required. The SAT total score is compiled from three test sections: Critical Reading, Math and Writing. Additionally, freshman applicants are required to score a minimum of 460 in the Critical Reading section, 460 in the Math section and 440 in the Writing section to be considered for admission. Meeting these minimum SAT scores does not guarantee admission.
In addition to the SAT, Florida Atlantic University accepts ACT scores from applicants. If an applicant takes the ACT, a minimum composite score of 19 is required. The ACT composite score is compiled from three test sections: Reading, Math and English. Freshman applicants are required to score a minimum of 19 on the Reading section, 19 on the Math section, and 18 on the English section to be considered for admission. Meeting these minimum ACT score requirements does not guarantee admission.
Florida Atlantic University also accepts applications from persons with a General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or who attended a non-traditional high school. Applicants with a GED must score at least a 3000 on the GED exam and have a minimum total SAT score of 1450 or a minimum composite ACT score of 21 to be considered for admission. Applicants who attended a non-traditional high school must also have a minimum total SAT score of 1450 or a minimum composite ACT score of 21 for admission consideration.
Florida Atlantic University accepts high school students who have completed their junior year for early admission. If accepted, these students attend FAU as college freshmen during what would have been their senior year of high school. To apply to this accelerated program, applicants must meet very competitive requirements, including a minimum total SAT score of 1800 or a minimum composite ACT score of 27.
