SUNY Fredonia is a competitive school in the state college system of New York. While other things are taken into perspective, an SAT score of around 1120 is usually required. If a student opts to take the ACT instead, the score requirement is 24. It is recommended that both tests are taken, but since the SAT is more common, this is usually the chosen test.
The SAT score comes from a combined count from the critical reading and math sections of the test. While all students are required to take either the SAT or ACT to be eligible for admission, no one is required to take the writing section of either exam. However, due to the competitive level at most colleges including Fredonia, it is recommended that students take the writing portion of the SAT, if at all possible. Fredonia does not factor in the writing score for admissions decisions, so it is a small risk to take.
While all students must take the SAT to be admitted to Fredonia, the school does recognize the educationally and financially disadvantaged population who wish to attend their school. For this reason, the Educational Development Program was designed to assist these students. With an advisory staff, financial support services, and other professionals aimed at assisting the underprivileged, a low SAT score may not necessarily disqualify someone from admission to Fredonia.
