Atlanta Technical College is one of the top two-year colleges in the United States. In 2007, "Washington Monthly" magazine placed it first out of 30 two-year colleges in the country. The school was the only Georgia two-year college on the list.
Atlanta Technical College includes three educational categories, including business, media and information; health and human services; and technical and skilled trades. The college offers associate degrees, diplomas and certificates in more than 100 fields of study. Students at the two-year public college can choose from a selection of day, evening, weekend and online classes.
After graduation, former students receive help in finding employment. School officials cite a 95 percent job placement rate.

Atlanta Metropolitan College dates back to 1974. The two-year public college, which is part of the University System of Georgia, has two locations in Atlanta. There's a main campus in southwest Atlanta and a satellite campus that is located in downtown Atlanta. Students at Atlanta Metropolitan College choose between two educational programs: college transfer and career. Forty-six educational programs are available in associate of arts, associate of science, applied science and certificate studies. The school conducts day, evening, weekend and online classes.

Class selections at a two-year college should be based on your desired career. Instruction at a two-year college falls into several separate categories, including transfer education, career education, developmental education, continuing education and job training. Two-year colleges offer students diplomas, associate degrees and certificates. Help and preparation for standardized tests are also available.
Students who use two-year colleges as stepping stones to larger four-year universities receive associate degrees. When accepted to four-year universities, students continue their education to complete a bachelor's degree program.
Other students who receive associate degrees at two-year colleges enter the workforce after graduation. Periodically, companies will contract with two-year colleges to train employees. Most two-year colleges offer continuing education classes that provide instruction on a variety of topics, including cooking, photography, dance, business management and other subjects.
