Southeast Community College at Lincoln offers certificates, diplomas and associate degrees in technology, health care fields, business, nursing, general education and more. The Southeast Community College system as a whole provides instruction in more than 50 disciplines throughout a 15-county area in southeastern Nebraska. Students interested in ultimately pursuing a bachelor's degree may choose the transfer program or a particular major that is suitable for transfer to a 4-year college or university. The college also offers a preparatory program for high school students who want to earn college credit before high school graduation. Students of all interests and ability levels may take advantage of the continuing education program, which offers noncredit courses to improve or enhance academic ability, hone job skills or learn a fun new skill. Online courses are available, as are distance learning programs. Regular admission is open to anyone with a high school diploma or GED, while a special admissions process, including certain tests, is available for students without a diploma or GED.

Students may choose from 48 fields of study through career/technical programs, liberal arts and general studies, and general education courses at Metropolitan Community college. The college is located in La Vista, about 45 miles northeast of Lincoln, Nebraska, making it another choice to begin or continue an education. Diploma, certificate and associate degree programs include concentrations in health and public services, business, applied technology, languages and visual arts, culinary/horticulture, nursing, transfer studies and more. High school students may investigate the college's dual enrollment, high school transfer credit and advance placement opportunities. The 19 general education courses include subjects ranging from English as a second language to music to political science. The school also offers noncredit courses to learn useful information such as computer basics and digital camera skills. General admission is open to anyone who has a high school diploma or GED, while other programs are available to anyone. Metropolitan Community College also offers programs in lifelong learning and children's summer enrichment.

With campuses in Columbus, Grand Island and Hastings, Central Community College offers students near Lincoln, Nebraska, more school choices to obtain a diploma, certificate or associate degree. The college offers associate degrees in general education as well as transfer degrees in 31 disciplines from art to engineering to theater. Other programs focus on agriculture, business, construction, electronics and information technology, health care, human and social services, manufacturing and fabrication, and media and graphic arts. The adult education department offers classes in basic education, English as a second language, GED instruction and more, while high school students may earn college credit through the tech prep program. More educational opportunities are available through the nontraditional careers and training and development departments. In all, Central Community College offers community classes in 19 cities and towns.
