Bohecker College and its criminal justice program are accredited by the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools. The Ohio State Board of Career Colleges and Schools approved Bohecker College as well. The college is affiliated with many organizations that benefit students studying criminal justice, including the Community Action Council of Portage County, the Portage County Human Resource Association, the Portage County Workforce Development Board Youth Council and the Portage County Literacy Coalition. All this involvement on the part of Bohecker College gives criminal justice majors exposure to the criminal and legal world as well as hands-on experience. Financial aid is available. Students working toward a career in criminal justice and enrolled in the criminal justice program at the University of Toledo will be required to take courses such as Essentials of Helping Relationships, Corrections Case Law and Standards, Juvenile Justice and Applied Psych and Criminology. The University of Toledo provides career counseling and placement services for criminal justice majors including aid in obtaining scholarships and other financial aid efforts. Chancellor University in Cleveland, Ohio offers students the opportunity to receive a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. The first two semesters students are enrolled at Chancellor University they will take the core required courses. In the third semester, students may sign up for Intro to Criminal Justice. Beginning in the fourth semester, Criminal Justice majors at Chancellor University begin to really dive into their major classes and courses such as Criminal Justice Ethics, Criminal Law and Procedure and Law Enforcement Administration. Students are encouraged to apply to Chancellor University online. Students may specify if they wish to take classes on-campus or strictly online.
