Founded in 1890 in Tallahassee, Florida A&M offers a wide variety of undergraduate and graduate degree programs. The university is also distinct among American universities as a doctoral research institute. Florida A&M's sprawling 422-acre hilltop campus is home to students from all over the United States as well as India, the Netherlands, China and Brazil. The school's most popular undergraduate programs are architecture, journalism and computer science. Its largest graduate programs are pharmaceutical sciences and public health.

Texas Southern University is located in the heart of Houston's historic Third Ward district and home to nearly 10,000 undergraduate and graduate students. Texas Southern is also home to the Thurgood Marshall School of Law, lauded three consecutive times as the nation's most diverse law school by U.S. News and World Report magazine.
