Structural Engineering Colleges

The University of Massachusetts defines structural engineering as "the art and science of determining the forms and shapes of man's structures so that they are able to support the loads imposed on them." Professional programs in this field of engineering prepare graduates for many careers, including a career in the federal government. An engineer might work in design and development, testing, maintenance and repair.
  1. University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth

    • The University of Massachusetts-Dartmouth was founded in its earliest form in 1895. Today, this institution, part of the state university system of Massachusetts, offers a bachelor's program in civil engineering with courses in structural engineering. The College of Engineering awards bachelor's and master's degrees in six departments of engineering and a PhD in Electrical Engineering. The student body is about 1,000 undergraduate students and 250 graduate students.

UMass-Dartmouth courses completed over four years include the topics of concrete structures, water quality, mechanics of soils and fluids, ethics, probability and statistics and electives. Students may choose a combined bachelor's and master's program in the University.
