Eastern Michigan University offers a bachelor of science and a master of science degree online in dietetics and human nutrition, respectively. Eastern Michigan offers its students an in-state tuition rate regardless of their state of residence. Areas of study covered by the bachelor's program include nutrition therapy, food systems, nutrient metabolism, entrepreneurship, food systems management and complementary and alternative medicine. The master of science program covers many of the same topics but also offers more advanced courses of study such as food and culture, advanced topics in food and advanced topics in nutrition.

East Carolina University, a leader in online education, offers a master of science degree in nutrition along with a diatetic internship program. The M.S. program offers thesis and non-thesis options; both programs require 33 credit hours in the field. Students pursue nine hours of core course material, six to 10 hours of research and 14 to 18 hours in their area of concentration. The internship program requires a minimum of a bachelor's degree that meets the requirements of the American Dietetic Association. This program is a non-degree graduate program that focuses on three areas of study: community nutrition, clinical nutrition and food service management.

The College of Human Ecology at Kansas State University offers a master of science degree in dietetics in an online format. The program is part of a collaboration between Kansas State and eight other prominent universities such as Oklahoma State University and Iowa State University. Those schools have joined in an educational consortium known as the Great Plains Interactive Distance Education Alliance. Of the nine universities, KSU's dietetics program is the largest. The degree is a 36-credit hour degree. All of the programs require the following courses: basic statistics, basic research methods and current issues in diatetics.
