Located in the central New Jersey community of Lincroft, Brookdale Community College was established in 1967 to serve the higher educational needs of Monmouth County students. Brookdale's culinary arts program trains students in cooking and baking methods that prepare them for careers in various food service posts. Past students of this associate's degree program have gone on to positions at area restaurants and hotels, including Atlantic City. Externships at Disney World and international restaurants and hotels complement studies at the college in courses like Patisserie, Basic Food Skills and Culinary Math.

Hudson County Community College's Culinary Arts Institute is in Jersey City, a New Jersey city in the metropolitan New York City area. In addition to an associate's degree program in culinary arts, HCCC also features a certificate program in baking proficiency. Courses like Bakeshop, Advanced Bakeshop and Food Service Sanitation prepare HCC Culinary Arts Institute baking certificate graduates for entry-level jobs in pastry, baking and other food service-related fields. Students can alternatively choose to enroll in the school's culinary arts associate's degree program, a well-rounded curriculum in all aspects of culinary arts, including the same courses as the baking proficiency certificate program. The culinary arts program additionally requires an externship.

Mercer County Community College features multiple academic programs for students wishing to pursue careers as pastry chefs or in related fields. The community college's West Windsor campus hosts a culinary arts associate's degree program that features a pastry arts concentration, as well as a pastry apprenticeship program. Chocolates and Confections, Artisanals Breads and Professional Baking are just a few of the courses a part of Mercer's pastry arts concentration curriculum. Graduates of this program can transfer to an individualized studies program at the Fairleigh Dickinson University. The pastry chef apprenticeship associate's degree program combines documented apprenticeship work with pastry and baking coursework.
