Princeton's mammalogy courses are offered by the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. Students will be exposed to how interactions between mammalian life forms and their physical environments create and maintain the populations, communities, and ecosystems we observe today. Emphasis is placed on many of the core concerns of modern mammalogy, such as how ecosystems are affected by human activities, and how humans can manage biological resources such as arable and grazing land for the preservation of a sustainable future.

The Richard Stockton College of New Jersey offers courses in mammalogy through its Environmental Studies Department as a core component of a degree in Marine Science. Students entering the interdisciplinary program of marine studies will gain a background in marine biology, marine resource management, and oceanography before choosing a family of marine animals in which to specialize later in their undergraduate careers. The Marine Science program at Richard Stockton encourages students to become involved in high-level independent research and thereby make meaningful contributions to the field.

Mammalogy courses at the New Jersey Institute of Technology are offered through the Department of Biological Sciences. The institute offers both a Bachelor of Science and a Bachelor of Arts in biology; these degrees are differentiated by the greater emphasis in the BS program on quantitative approaches. Students are required to take advanced computational and mathematical courses to help them understand the 21st century scientific models used to develop a deeper working knowledge of the biological functions---including nuclear genetics and metabolic behavior---of organisms such as mammals.
