• Early childhood education students may be interested in Mount Royal University's two-year diploma in early learning and child care. The coursework focuses on infants through age 12, including classes such as learning through play, principles of development, young children with special needs, professional practices in early childhood organizations, issues in early learning and child care and introduction to early learning. Students attend full or part time and can spend up to three days per week in field settings such as kindergartens or nursery schools. Students wishing to pursue further education to the bachelor level may transfer this coursework to Mount Royal's bachelor of applied child studies program.

University of the Fraser Valley

• The University of the Fraser Valley offers a variety of programs in early childhood education, including an early childhood education certificate, diploma in infancy and bachelor's degree in child and youth care. Coursework includes art in early childhood education, introduction of observing and recording behavior of young children, atypical development, introduction to disabilities, working with families and programming for infancy. Students get real-world experience at the school's Child and Youth Practicum Center. While on campus, participate in clubs such as the cricket club, student psychology association, teacher education program association and table top games club.
