    Prairie View A&M University

    • Prairie View A&M University is another option for nursing students residing in the Houston area. Although not nationally ranked, it is a top nursing program by default as one of only two other Houston nursing schools offering advanced degrees in the field. At the undergraduate level students can pursue the Bachelor of Science degree. Prairie View also offers a degree completion program for registered nurses needing to finish a baccalaureate education. At the graduate level, Prairie View nursing students can pursue the Master of Science degree with specialties in nursing administration, nursing education and family nurse practitioner.

    • Texas Women's University (TWU) located in Denton, Dallas and Houston offers an extensive nursing program. Although the main campus is not located in the Houston area, TWU offers many of its programs through its Houston campus. Compared to other nursing schools nationwide, "U.S. News & World Report" ranked the TWU program No. 54 in the nation.
