How to Write an APA Bibliography for a Website

American Psychological Association (APA) is a writing format used in formal papers. If you have a website that you want to reference, there is a certain way to set it up in APA style. Having a standardized style of reference makes it easy for people to read and understand a reference page. APA style is commonly used in schools from K-12 up to graduate school. Knowing how to write your bibliography in APA style is a necessity when you write and/or publish papers and articles.

Instructions

      Type "References" in a 12 point font, Times New Roman, at the top of a new sheet of paper. It must be centered.

      Gather together the website's author, published date, article title, website title, the date you accessed the page and the URL.

      Type the name of the authors in alphabetical order. The surname must be first, followed by a comma and the author's first name initial followed by a period.

      Type a parenthesis and enter the year the article was published followed by a comma and the month and day it was published. Close the parenthesis and put a period at the end.

      Enter the title of the article, but only capitalize the first word. Italicize the title.

      Type the name of the website with each proper noun in capitals. End it with a period.

      Type "Retrieved ____, from" and fill in the blank with the date you found the article. Put a comma after "from," then type the URL of the article.

      Put a double-space between each reference.
