Founded in 1925, Ventura College is a two-year school, servicing the community of Ventura, California. Ventura College receives its accreditation from the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges (ACCJC). Ventura College offers campus-based and online courses. With 68 departments or courses of study spanning five divisions, Ventura College offers a range of majors for students to pick from. Ventura College provides various ways to help students pay for college including payment plan options, financial aid and the Ventura College Promise program. The Ventura College Promise pays the per-unit cost for the first year only, the Student Center fee and the Health fee for graduating high school seniors whose parents or guardians make under $85,000 a year. Adults just receiving their General Education Diploma are also eligible for the Ventura College Promise.

The University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB) began offering off-campus bachelor's degree programs at Ventura in 1972. The program allows for Ventura students who attended two-year colleges such as Ventura College, to receive a four-year bachelor's degree. UCSB holds classes in Ventura once a week with an average class size of 25 students.
Classes are typically taught in person; however, some are taught via video conference from the UCSB main campus, according to the UCSB website. Students can earn a bachelor's of art degree in one of seven majors: Anthropology, English, History, Interdisciplinary Studies, Political Science, Psychology and Sociology. The courses available each academic session vary from year to year.

The Santa Barbara and Ventura Colleges of Law, founded in 1969, are accredited by the Committee of Bar Examiners of the State Bar of California. Admission begins in August for the fall semester. Students coming directly from a four-year bachelor's degree program must have a minimum 2.7 grade point average (GPA) or a 2.0 GPA with a Law School Admissions Test (LSAT) score within the 50th percentile.
The Ventura College of Law campus offers certificates of concentration in Business Law, Criminal Law, Family Law and Estate Planning. Students can obtain a certificate in one of these four concentrations. To receive the Juris Doctor degree, students must complete the 84 required semester units, according to the Ventura College of Law website.
