Central California Colleges

Central California is typically referred to as the area of the state from the cities of San Francisco to Santa Barbara. It is known for The Highway 1, which is a picturesque road featuring views of the water and rolling hills. Numerous colleges are located in area cities that offer a variety of programs for all types of individuals pursing higher education.
  1. Universities

    • The University of California has had a campus located in Merced since 2005. It is committed to providing quality education, public service and research opportunities to meet the needs of the state, country and world. It features three distinct schools: the School of Natural Sciences, School of Engineering and the School of Social Sciences, Humanities and Arts. The schools offer an array of undergraduate and graduate programs including bioengineering, economics, history, psychology, applied mathematics, world cultures and social and cognitive sciences.

      California State University has three campuses located in the central region: Monterey Bay, Fresno and Stanislaus. The Stanislaus campus is dedicated to providing individuals with a student-centered education. It is made up of six schools: the College of the Arts, College of Education, College of Business Administration, College of Human and Health Sciences, College of Natural Sciences and the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. It offers undergraduate and graduate programs including accounting, marketing, kinesiology, chemistry, ethnic studies, theater, philosophy, educational leadership, nursing and marine science.

    Community Colleges

    • The College of the Sequoias is located in Visalia, on the eastern border of the San Joaquin Valley. It is a comprehensive community college that concentrates on providing educational opportunities that promote lifelong learning, involvement in the community and successful careers. It has separate academic divisions for business, science, nursing and health sciences, language art and communication and math and engineering.
