Four Year Military Colleges

Four-year military colleges offer students the ability to enroll in traditional undergraduate college classes while also completing basic military training and learning the core values associated with a career in the military. With the exception of The Citadel, military colleges require cadets or midshipmen to serve as active duty officers in the military after graduation.

    • Founded in 1842 and located in Charleston, South Carolina, The Citadel offers undergraduate degree programs for students while providing military training. Academic majors offered include biology, chemistry, civil engineering, education, electrical engineering and psychology. Each semester, a cadet needs to enroll in an ROTC course specific to one of the four branches of the U.S. military, but cadets are not required to accept a military commission. Graduates of The Citadel can choose to either pursue a civilian career or accept a position within the U.S. military system.
