Ohio State University's main campus, established in 1870, is in Columbus. It's also been selected as on of the country's top 20 public universities, and has also earned recognition for its medical center and cancer hospital and research center, according to the Ohio State University on website. There are 170 undergraduate majors and more than 250 doctoral, master's and professional degrees offered at the school.
Mount Carmel College of Nursing was founded in 1903 as a private Catholic institute. Today, the campus is at the Mount Carmel West hospital near downtown Columbus, where students can use the state-of-the-art facilities to earn their bachelor's or master's degrees in nursing, or take part in an Registered Nurse-Bachelor of Science in Nursing Completion Program, Graduate Certificate in Nursing Education, second degree accelerated program or a dietetic internship.
Columbus College of Art and Design was founded in 1879 in Ohio's capitol. The school offers a Bachelor of Fine Arts and Master of Fine Arts; with majors including animation, fashion design, illustration, photography, interior design, industrial design, advertising and graphic design. In 2011 there were nearly 200 faculty members with the school, who help educate the 1,300 students enrolled there.
Franklin University, in Columbus, was founded in 1902 and today has grown to be the state's third-largest private school. The university aims to serve adult students furthering their education while balancing other responsibilities: classes are offered online and in-person. Students can earn their undergraduate or graduate's degree through the school in areas including computer science, eMarketing, financial planning and forensic accounting.
Ohio Dominican University, founded in 1911, is a Catholic university with a focus on the liberal arts. It offers more than 50 majors in undergraduate degrees including Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Arts, as well as master's degrees such as Master of Arts in Theology. The school also features an evening-only degree completion program. Students at the university can expect a low student-to-faculty ratio, with as few as 20 students in each class.
