Maritime College, located in historic Fort Schuyler in the Bronx, prepares students for careers in the maritime industry through degree programs in the following disciplines: engineering, naval architecture, marine transportation/ business administration, maritime studies, marine environmental science, and international transportation and trade. Ninety percent of students participate in the Regiment of Cadets, a military-style organization designed to impart military structure, bearing and etiquette in order to prepare students to join the U.S Merchant Marines. All cadets must wear uniforms. An important feature of a Maritime College education is the Summer Sea Term. For three summers students ship out on the Empire State VI training ship, visiting 3-5 foreign ports and one domestic port each year, to receive hands-on experience for the Merchant Marine Officer's License.
