Surgical technologists work in operating rooms under the supervision of surgeons, nurses, and other members of the surgical team. They assist in the preparation of the operating room, laying out various pieces of equipment. They also may assist in patient preparation by disinfecting surgery sites or shaving a patient.     • Delaware County Community College offers an Associate in Applied Science degree to students who successfully complete the surgical technology program at the Southeast Center. The Southeast Center is located in Sharon Hill, Pennsylvania, approximately 20 minutes from center-city Philadelphia. Students must complete 62 credits to obtain their degree. Program entry requires a criminal background clearance to ensure eligibility for clinical study participation. A 2.5 GPA must be maintained, and students are only permitted to repeat courses once.
