A List of State of California Community Colleges

The California Community Colleges system offers educational programs in 110 colleges located in 72 state districts. The publicly supported system offers associate's degrees, career training and remedial programs for nearly 3 million students statewide. The colleges offer classes for any high school graduate, as well as non-graduates over the age of 18, with a resident cost of $26 per unit (as of May 2010). Enrollment also is available for a limited number of non-resident students.

    • City College of San Francisco offers non-credit programs and associate degree programs for full-time and part-time students. Founded in 1935, the college provides morning, afternoon, evening and weekend classes at 11 citywide locations. Select programs offer credits that are transferable to four-year universities and colleges. Educational departments include Applied Science and Technology, Science and Mathematics, Behavioral and Social Sciences, Liberal Arts, Business, International Education, English as a Second Language, and Health and Physical Education.

    San Diego Miramar College

    • Located in San Diego's Mira Mesa, San Diego Miramar College was established in 1969, originally offering training facilities for firefighters and law enforcement professionals. Today, the college offers associate degree programs, certificate programs and transfer programs for students planning to attend a 4-year state or private college or university. Academic departments include Arts and Humanities, Social and Behavioral Sciences, Disability Support Programs and Services, and Communication and Foreign Languages. Additionally, San Diego Miramar College provides a home for the Southern California Biotechnology Center, the San Diego Regional Public Safety Institute, and the Advanced Transportation and Energy Center.

    Skyline College

    • Located in San Bruno, near Skyline Boulevard, Skyline College offers associate degrees, certificate programs and classes with transferable credits to four-year universities and colleges. The college is conveniently located near South San Francisco, Pacifica, Daly City, Colma and Brisbane. The 43 certificate programs include Automotive Technology, Telecommunications and Network Information Technology, Respiratory Therapy and Surgical Technology. Major programs of study include Business, Social Science, International Trade, Language Arts, Workforce Development and Counseling.

    Antelope Valley College

    • Founded over 80 years ago with only 16 students, Antelope Valley College now offers part-time and full-time educational programs for almost 16,000 students. Academic disciplines at the college include economic development, performing arts, computer studies, engineering, visual arts, business, health sciences and mathematics. In addition to certificate and associate degree programs, Antelope Valley College also provides a home for other academic programs, including AV SOAR (Students on the Academic Rise) High School. AV SOAR High School, an Antelope Valley Joint Union High School District school, offers college level coursework integrated into the high school curriculum. Graduates of this 5-year program receive a college associate's degree in addition to a high school diploma.
