Concordia University was established in 1974 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. The Faculty of Fine Arts offers students programs in theater, music and contemporary dance. The Department of Theater offers five programs: Theater Performance, Design for the Theater, Theater and Development and Theater Major/Minor. Each program offers intensive study to enhance the capabilities of students in performing and creating. In order to be accepted into the theater department you must undergo an audition process specialized for your degree choice.
The Concordia University Department of Music offers six programs: Music Performance Studies, Music Composition, Electroacoustic Studies, Jazz Studies, Integrative Music Studies and a Minor in Music. Students within the Department of Music are initially accepted in the Electroacoustic Studies or Integrative Music Studies and after successfully completing one academic year in this program they may apply for one of the other three major specializations. To apply for this program students must meet the minimum qualifications for the University as well as pass a music theory test, dictation test, sight-reading test and an audition (if applicable).
The Concordia University Contemporary Dance Department offers a three-year Bachelor's of Fine Arts degree in Contemporary Dance. This program teaches students all aspects of dance, which include the creative process, anatomy for dancers, choreography and dance techniques. To be admitted in this program the applicant must be accepted into the University and pass a rigorous audition process.

The National Theatre School of Canada was established in Montreal in 1960 and since then it has become one of the elite theater schools in Canada. In 2008, 866 students auditioned for admission, but only 54 were accepted. By limiting the number of accepted applicants, students are able to receive one-on-one training from the faculty. The National Theatre School of Canada offers five programs students can choose from. These include: Acting, Playwriting, Directing, Set/Costume Design and Production. Each program provides students with intensive training to prepare them for professional careers in the theater. All courses are taught by industry professionals to ensure information is accurate as well as to build connections within the Canadian theater industry. The yearly tuition cost for Canadian residents as of 2010 is $4,400 while non-Canadian residents must pay $8,800 per year.

The Vancouver Film School differs from standard universities as its programs only last one year. Each program is delivered through lectures, internships and hands-on demonstrations. While the programs only last 12 months, the learning model has been concentrated to focus on practical experience rather than theoretical instruction. According to the Vancouver Film School, 12 months of study is equal to three or four years in a standard university institution. Every program has different eligibility requirements, so speak with an advisor prior to registering to ensure you meet the minimum qualifications for your desired program. As of 2010, the tuition for the Vancouver Film School ranges from $10,000 to $53,000 (Canadian currency) for non-Canadian residents or $7,500 to $35,000 (Canadian currency) for Canadian residents.
