The three-year MBA/MSW program at Boston College consists of one year of core social work courses, one year of core business school courses and one year in which students complete course requirements and participate in fieldwork at area mental health centers, schools, or nursing homes for elective credit. Fieldwork experiences are supervised by licensed social workers. Students gain a solid foundation in social work theories, along with competency in business skills such as accounting, marketing and human resource management. An option exists to complete the master's in social work (MSW) degree on a part-time basis; this option extends the length of the program from three to four years. Prospective students apply to Boston College's graduate schools of social work and management, respectively, and must be admitted by both before beginning the program.
