List of Minnesota Universities

Minnesota has 74 institutions of higher education that are available for students interested in attaining a university degree. Local Minnesota natives, residents from throughout the U.S. and international students seeking matriculation to a Minnesota institution are able to apply. Minnesota has undergraduate and graduate universities as well as professional schools such as medical schools, law schools, and art schools; four of them are profiled below.
  1. University of Minnesota-Twin Cities

    • The University of Minnesota-Twin Cities campus is the largest university in Minnesota, with a 2010 enrollment of more than 51,140 students, 32,557 of whom are undergraduates. Tuition and fees for the 2010 academic school year for in-state students are $21,144. A little more than half (53%) of applicants are accepted and 78% of all students receive financial aid assistance. The university offers professional degrees including law and medicine, two-year certificates, baccalaureates, master's degrees, and doctorates.

    Northwestern College

    • Northwestern College, located in Saint Paul, is a private four-year institution of higher education. For 2010, the enrollment stands at 3,022. The in-state and out-of-state tuition for Northwestern College in 2010 is the same, $32,290, and the acceptance rate is 92%. Northwestern College offers associates degrees as well as baccalaureates, master's degrees and certificate degrees.

    Minnesota State University-Mankato

    • The Minnesota State University-Mankato campus has an enrollment of 14,598 students as of 2010. The university is public and the tuition for in- and out-of-state students in 2010 is $15,155 and $21,400, respectively. The university has a large and active campus life and offers several types of degrees. There are more than 100 programs of study and degree choices, including accounting, food science, business, marketing, various types of engineering and many more.

    Capella University

    • Capella University in Minneapolis has a 2010 enrollment of 23,733 students. The private university has one tuition rate for in- and out-of-state students, $17,510 for 2010. It offers all university-level degrees: baccalaureate, post-baccalaureate, masters, doctoral, medical and law. There are may various majors and study programs available, including online studies and study abroad programs.
