Pharmaceutical Career Degrees

Pharmacists work in a variety of settings such as hospitals, community pharmacies, managed care organizations, pharmaceutical manufacturing, academic pharmacy and government agencies such as the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). While job duties may vary upon occupational setting, all pharmacists must be familiar with the chemical and physical properties of drugs, their composition and how they affect humans. Degrees are offered at the undergraduate and graduate level, however, jobs in academic pharmacy require a Doctor of Philosophy degree in Pharmacy (Ph.D.) and some employers prefer individuals with a Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree.
