You will learn cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) and many other techniques used to combat anxiety by retraining the brain about the cause of the fear and how to deal with fear itself. Not only will you learn to help others combat anxiety and worry, but you will also be able to apply this to your own life. These techniques can be especially helpful to people already in the medical field (nurses and practitioners) as well as counselors, psychotherapists and psychologists.
This course covers, but is not limited to, treatment of anxiety and worry, detection of anxiety, human thought, anti-anxiety techniques, sleep, feelings, anxiety reduction, the difference between normal behavior and behavioral problems, supplemental treatments, coping skills, anxiety disorders, and targeting anxiety and stress.
Normally this course requires a high school diploma or GED. You may enroll in a course located on a campus, or you can take the course at home. At home courses can be given online or through the mail. Courses offered on campus are usually at community colleges or adult education centers. Fees vary according to location and the course's length. You may also be required to purchase some supplies for the class, which may include notebooks, pens, binders, folders, books and computer CDs.
