The George Warren Brown School of Social Work within the university offers M.S.W., M.P.H. (master of public health) and Ph.D. in social work degrees. The University of Washington (UW) in Seattle is the home to 17 colleges, awarding an average of 12,000 undergraduate, graduate and professional degrees annually. UW's School of Social Work tied in 2008 with Columbia University in New York City as the fourth best graduate school in the nation for social work by U.S. News and World Report. its M.S.W. program offers day, advanced standing and extended degree program options. Full-time students complete the day program in two years. The advanced standing program is completed in 10 months and the extended degree option is a 75-credit, full-time program to be completed in three years.
