Universities That Offer Robotics Engineering Programs

Robotics engineering is one of the fastest-growing fields in engineering. This field of study is closely related to other disciplines such as computer science, cognitive psychology, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering. Educational robotics programs are available for students beginning at the kindergarten level and reaching all the way to the doctorate.
  1. Carnegie Mellon University

    • The Robotics Institute is a part of Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. It opened in 1979 and has been a part of numerous research breakthroughs including intelligent manufacturing, autonomous vehicles, space-exploration robots, medical robotics, nano-machines and anthropomorphic robots.

The Robotics Insitute offers an undergraduate minor, a bachelor's degree, a master's degree and a Ph.D as well as a fifth-year master's program for undergraduate students and a joint M.D./Ph.D option. This school was the first to offer a doctoral-level degree in robotics. As a part of its community outreach program, the school organizes K-12 programs in robotics.

    Princeton University

    • Princeton University in Princeton, New Jersey, offers a program in robotics and intelligent systems. This program serves as a focus track for those pursuing a degree in a relevant field. It stresses the interaction among engineering, computing and life sciences in robotics.

Those admitted to the program must be a junior or senior with an adequate background in math, science and computing. Enrolled students take six courses, three of which are core curriculum and three electives. A B-minus or better average in all courses is required for completion of the program.
