Which Universities Offer an Engineering Degree?

According to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), the need for engineers is expected to increase 11 percent from 2008 to 2018. Engineers use mathematics and science to create and develop new products and solve problems in their specific area of engineering such as mechanical engineering. Regardless of engineering specialty, anyone interested in becoming an engineer needs at least a bachelor's degree. There are a variety of postsecondary schools, including schools online, that offer engineering degrees.
  1. Midwestern Engineering Programs

    • The heart of the United States, called the Midwest, consists of 12 states. These states have numerous universities that offer engineering degrees. For instance, in Ohio the largest university that offers an engineering degree is The Ohio State University, located in Columbus. The University of Cincinnati, another Ohio university, offers engineering degrees. Some Indiana universities that offer engineering degrees include Purdue University and University of Notre Dame. The state of Michigan also has plenty of choices to obtain an engineering degree. The universities include University of Michigan --- Ann Arbor and Michigan State University.     West Coast and Southern Engineering Programs

Cornell University and the University at Albany are some colleges in New York state that also have engineering programs. The University of Delaware, Tufts University and New Jersey Institute of Technology located on the East Coast offer the degree.

    Online Engineering Programs

    • For an individual not interested in sitting in a classroom every day to earn an engineering degree, there are accredited online universities that have engineering degrees. Colorado Technical University, Strayer University, DeVry University and Herzing University are examples of online universities with engineering programs.
