San Diego State University is a large public university in Southern California. The College of Business Administration at the university offers an undergraduate marketing major. Students in the program take courses in finance, information systems and economics to prepare for the more advanced coursework in the latter part of the curriculum. Once students are accepted into the program and begin taking upper division coursework, topics of instruction include marketing management and operations management. The degree program prepares students for a variety of careers, including product and brand marketing management.

College of San Mateo is a public two-year college in Northern California that awards associate degrees and certificates. Students can achieve an associate of science degree in marketing management by completing 60 units of both general education courses and major-specific classes. The marketing management degree requires 24 units of study related to the major, including classes on contemporary American business, management of human resources and techniques of supervision. Courses at College of San Mateo will transfer to many four-year institutions.

University of California, Los Angeles, is a public four-year institution in Southern California. Students can achieve a Master of Business Administraion from the Anderson School of Management at the university. All students in the program are required to take two marketing management courses in the beginning of the program, and many of the business electives also pertain to marketing management. Available electives include global marketing management, brand management and market research. In addition to attending class lectures, students work with a group to create and execute an applied research project.
