Metropolitan College of New York has a one-year master's of business administration (MBA) in media management program that combines the communications and business aspects of media management. The program is targeted for working members of the mass media who are looking to move into management roles. Students who are accepted into the program must have worked in a media-related career field. Media courses are supplemented with lab experiences that involve writing business plans for creating and growing media businesses. Classes are held on weekends.

The New School offers a graduate degree in media management that allows students to divide their study time between learning about how the media works and using hands-on opportunities.
