College of the Sequoias Electrical Training

The electrical training program at the College of the Sequoias provides the academic training necessary for employment as an electrician. The program includes eight courses to prepare students for the required 8,000 work hours necessary for licensure as an electrician in California.
  1. Certificate Program

    • The electrical training program at the College of the Sequoias is a one-year certificate program that prepares students to write the California Electrician Certification Examination. The program is approved by the Division of Apprenticeship Standards.

    Hands-on Experience

    • The program utilizes a hands-on teaching format in college labs to provide practical experience for employment in the electrical field. Students become familiar with the tools and techniques involved in the trade prior to application in the workforce.

    Curriculum

    • Students must complete 32 academic units throughout the program. The first course provides students with an understanding of the safety, math and tools used in the electrical field. Subsequent courses provide students with a thorough knowledge in electrical theory, electrical blueprints, test equipment and residential wiring.
