    Johns Hopkins University

    • Johns Hopkins University is comprised of nine schools and is a leader in the medical field. The university and the Johns Hopkins Health System together are Maryland's largest private employer. Faculty of Johns Hopkins have earned prestigious awards such as the Nobel Prize, The National Medal of Science and the Lasker Medical Research Award. Researchers made significant research contributions, including the use of as zinc as a treatment for pneumonia and the co-development of a DNA vaccine protecting against measles. Famous alumni include former president Woodrow Wilson, ecologist Rachel Carson and film director Wes Craven.

    The Community College of Baltimore County

    • The Community College of Baltimore County (CCBC) consists of three campuses offering more than 100 certificates and associate degrees. CCBC also offers distance learning programs and honor programs, in which graduates have transferred to Maryland four year colleges such as Johns Hopkins University, Townson University and the College of Notre Dame. CCBC provides job placement assistance for students and alumni year round. This service assists students in finding full-time and part-time work in addition to internships, volunteer opportunities and career preparation skills. Academic schools are focused in the areas of business, social sciences, wellness and education; liberal arts; justice; applied and information technology; mathematics and science; and health professions.
