Georgia Schools With Air Force ROTC Programs

Young women and men who would like to earn a commission in the armed forces often receive instruction through Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs in their preferred military branch. Currently there are three schools in Georgia that offer Air Force ROTC programs (AFROTC): The University of Georgia, The Georgia Institute of Technology (Georgia Tech), and Valdosta State University.
  1. The University of Gerogia

    • Tuition: In State: $5,622 Out of State $20,726

      Cadre: Lt. Col. Philip M. Byrd

      AFROTC Detachment 160 is based in Hardman Hall on the UGA campus.

      Distinguishing program features:

      - Active field exercises and outdoor training

      - Professional Development Training summer programs for cadets

      - A commitment to developing quality military leaders

    Gerogia Institute of Technology

    • Tuition: In State: $5,642 Out of State $23,366

      Cadre: Col. Sheri Andino

      AFROTC Detachment 165 is based in the O'Keefe Building on the Georgia Tech campus.

      Distinguishing program features:

      - Crosstown school programs with 13 Atlanta-area colleges that utilize the program

      - An active and distinguished honor guard program

      - Afterburner, a cadet generated and run newsletter that's been published since 2008

    Valdosta State University

    • Tuition: In State: $3,996 Out of State $15,972

      Cadre: Lt. Col. Alan W. Elledge

      AFROTC Detachment 172 is based in Barrow Hall on the VSU campus.

      Distinguishing program features:

      - A focus on academics, supported by a robust Cadet Tutor Program

      - Hands-on experience with visits to base and in-flight instruction

      - Arnold Air Society, an exemplary voluntary honor society focused on POW/MIA awareness and sponsoring events for the cadet corps
