  1. Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising

    • The Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising is a two-year proprietary art and business college with four campuses in California. Founded in 1969, FIDM includes bachelor's degree programs in fashion knitwear design, textile design and fashion design, the latter of which has produced some of the college's famous alumni. Designer Kevan Hall, reality television star Lauren Conrad and several "Project Runway" designers are all FIDM graduates.

    Parsons The New School for Design

    • Established in 1896, Parsons The New School for Design is a private four-year college in New York City. The college's undergraduate and graduate programs of study include a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Fashion Design. The first American program of its kind, Parsons' fashion design major allows students to build their fashion portfolio while developing a firm foundation of liberal arts. Marc Jacobs, Narciso Rodriguez and Derek Lam are Parsons'alumni.

    Fashion Institute of Technology

    • Established in 1944, the Fashion Institute of Technology is an art and design college on New York's famed Fashion Avenue. Part of the State University of New York system of public colleges and universities, FIT hosts undergraduate and graduate programs in more than 30 fields, including in fashion design. One of the college's first programs of study, FIT's undergraduate fashion design program has featured internship opportunities with such world-renowned designers, such as Ralph Lauren, Calvin Klein and Donna Karan.

    Massachusetts College of Art and Design

    • The Massachusetts College of Art and Design is a four-year art college in Boston. Founded in 1873, today MassArt students can choose among such art majors as photography, architectural design and fashion design. Fashion design graduates have continued on to careers at companies like Nicole Miller, Victoria's Secret and DKNY.
