Located in San Bernardino County, Victorville, California, is approximately 40 miles north of Riverside and 66 miles northeast of Los Angeles. As of July 2009, the city was home to more than 110,000 residents, according to City-Data.com. Due to its size, Victorville has become a center for education and home to a number of private and public colleges, which grant undergraduate and graduate degrees in a variety of fields.

    • Victory Valley College is a public, two-year college accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Community and Junior Colleges of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges. Certificate and associate degree programs offered at the school include nursing, respiratory therapy, administration of justice, automotive technology, child development, fire technology, restaurant management and welding. Eligible students can take advantage of federal and state grants and loans, veterans' benefits, institutional scholarships, and work-study placements to help offset the cost of tuition. Career counseling and job placement assistance are available for all students. An on-site daycare provides low-cost childcare for students' children. Around five student organizations are located on campus, and the school sponsors 16 intercollegiate athletic teams.

    University of La Verne High Desert Campus

    • The University of La Verne is private, nonsectarian college based in La Verne, California. The school has its High Desert Campus in Victorville; it's accredited through the Accrediting Commission for Senior Colleges and Universities of the Western Association of Schools and Colleges.

      For undergraduates, the school offers bachelor's programs in business administration, organizational management, liberal studies and public administration. Graduate degrees include master's in business administration, educational management and educational counseling.     • As a nondenominational Christian college, Azusa Pacific University has its main campus in Azusa and a satellite campus in Victorville. The school offers bachelor's and master's degrees in education and leadership. The baccalaureate programs are accelerated, allowing students to earn their degrees in a shorter amount of time than a typically four-year course of study. The university offers study abroad placements in Latin America, Taiwan, England, Australia, China, Africa, France, Israel, Italy, Lithuania and Spain. In addition to federal and state aid, the school offers a limited number of work-study placements and institutional scholarships.
