In Columbus, Indiana, three choices for higher education are available and students can easily find associate, bachelor's, or master's level programs to suit their interests and needs. Columbus has two two-year colleges, Ivy Tech and Harrison, and one four-year college, Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus. Each of these schools offers a wide variety of programs for both traditional and non-traditional students.
  1. Indiana University-Purdue University Columbus

    • IUPUC is a four-year university offering bachelor's and master's level degrees in the areas of business and education. Also offered are programs in liberal arts, science and nursing. Fewer than 2,000 students are enrolled, allowing for smaller class sizes. To apply, complete the application on the school's website and high school transcripts. SAT or ACT scores are required, as is a letter of recommendation. As of August 2010, tuition is $241.84 per credit hour for undergraduates, and $283.20 per credit hour for graduate students.

    Ivy Tech Community College

    • More than 10,000 students are enrolled at the Columbus campus of Ivy Tech, a two-year community college that offers classes in cities throughout Indiana. Associate degrees are available in the areas of business and health. The college also offers degrees in education, social services and engineering. As of August 2010, tuition is $104.55 per credit hour. To apply, complete the online application and submit transcripts from any high school or college attended. You will also need to visit the campus to take a skills assessment, which will determine your course placement.

    Harrison College-Columbus

    • Harrison College, whose main campus is in Indianapolis, has campuses throughout the state, including Columbus. At the Columbus campus, associate degrees are available in two areas, health sciences and business. Harrison offers a range of programs to choose from in those two areas. Tuition varies based on the program of study you select. To apply, complete the online application, submit high school transcripts and make an admissions appointment. Meeting with an admissions counselor is part of the application process. Applicants must also take a Scholastic Level Exam, which will be administered during the admissions appointment. This exam of math, reasoning and vocabulary skills will determine which Harrison College programs you are eligible for.
