Ancilla College is a private, two-year liberal arts college founded by the Catholic religious congregation of the Poor Handmaidens of Jesus Christ in 1937. The school offers 17 degree programs for students who plan to enter the workforce and for those who will transfer to four-year academic programs. The school also has several transfer agreements with other colleges in the state. Ancilla, with an enrollment of 550, offers six competitive sports.

The City Colleges of Chicago's Olive-Harvey College is a public community college about 30 minutes from the Indiana state line. Olive-Harvey College, with an enrollment of 5,000, offers 27 degree programs, as well as an associate in general studies. The school has several transfer agreements with four-year colleges and universities.
