California Costume Design Schools

Like that of other types of fashion, the field of costume design is highly competitive, explains the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. To receive employment in the field, post-secondary education and a strong portfolio of designs is typically necessary. A small number of schools in the state of California offer programs specifically in costume design. These private and public institutions allow students to hone their skills while studying in the state that serves as home to the film industry, as well as for theater and television.
