Hutchinson Community College offers academic coursework in subjects such as mathematics, social sciences, natural sciences, language, business and fine arts. The school also offers vocational training in a variety of fields, including public safety, nursing, auto collision repair, welding and heating, ventilation and air conditioning.
Prospective Hutchinson students must have either a high school diploma or a completed GED. You must submit your high school or GED transcripts with your application in order to be admitted into one of the school's degree programs. Current high school seniors may qualify for admission. These students will need to submit a permission form filled out by their high school principal in order to gain admittance.
Hutchinson's varsity athletic teams compete in the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) and the Kansas Jayhawk Community College Conference (KJCCC). The school fields teams in baseball, men's and women's basketball, volleyball, softball, cross country, football, soccer, track and cheerleading. The school's mascot is the Blue Dragon.
HCC can accommodate approximately 420 students in its two co-ed residence halls--Elland Hall and Kent Hall. Dorms and suites can accommodate either two or four students, and all rooms are equipped with cable TV and high-speed Internet hookups. The dorms have common areas with television, video games, computer facilities, pool tables and ping pong tables.
