The TEACH grant program, which stands for Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher education , is a recent grant program (2007) for students who want to become teachers. It was initially created in 2007 to find more teachers and try to encourage the quality of education in low-income cities. Any college student can apply for the TEACH grant program, and the student does not have to validate financial difficulty in order to qualify.
Recipients of the TEACH College Grant Program must teach for at least four years in a low-income secondary school within an eight-year calendar period. If the requirements are not met, the recipient must pay off the loan off as an unsubsidized loan.
