The College of the Bahamas has three different campuses, including the main one in the capital of Nassau. The college, which was in the process of converting to a university in 2011, was formed in 1974 by combining several other colleges that were already in existence. Satellite campuses are located around the country where students can take selected courses. The college's Gerace Center on San Salvador Island is used a base for scientific research and student field trips. Degree programs include business, communications and creative arts, nursing, English studies, education, science and social studies.
The University of the Virgin Islands has units that offer undergraduate degrees in business, education, liberal arts and social sciences, nursing, and science and mathematics. This public university in the United States Virgin Islands also has masters degree programs in education and business administration. Founded in 1962, the university has campuses in St. Thomas and St. Croix. Its combined enrollment from the two campuses in 2010 was 2,642 students. Many of the students come from the mainland of the United States as well as other Caribbean nations. In 2010, 1,951 of the students were females and 691 were males. The majority of the students live on campus. The university has athletic programs and a 3,500-seat arena on its St. Thomas campus.
The International College of the Cayman Islands is located in Newlands on the island of Grand Cayman. It is a private four-year college that first opened in 1970. It offers Associate of Science degrees in business, liberal arts and office administration. Master's degrees in business administration are also available. Bachelor's degree programs include business administration, liberal arts and social services. The campus itself consists of two buildings. Its Clayton Strain Hall has a library, computer lab, bookstore and a student center. The total enrollment for the 2010-2011 school year was approximately 220 students.
Antigua State College is located in the city of St. John's in the nation of Antigua and Barbuda. It was founded in 1977 by merging two existing institutions. Since its inception, it has grown from a student body of approximately 150 to over 700. Antigua State College offers both associate and bachelor's degrees. Vocational training is provided in home management, office practice, refrigeration and electronics and agriculture. The college is affiliated with the University of the West Indies, which also has campuses in Jamaica, Barbados and Trinidad.
