Colleges for Sports Management in Kentucky

Kentucky residents planning a career in sports management need look no further that their home state. Kentucky hosts a number of colleges and universities that offer sports management degrees. The schools have varying requirements. Prospective students should examine each college before selecting one in order to make an informed decision regarding their educations.
  1. Union College

    • Union College offers two sports management programs. The sports management with a health and fitness option consists of 64 credit hours; pupils complete 34 credit hours of physical education and sports orientation courses and 24 credit hours of business management courses. Additionally, students complete a six credit hour internship. Union College also offers sports management with a business operation option, a program encompassing 67 credit hours; undergraduates take 28 credit hours of physical education and sports orientation courses, 33 credit hours of business management courses and a six-hour internship. Along with the program requirements, students must take general education courses.

    Midway College

    • Students can earn a Bachelor of Arts in Sports Management degree from Midway College by taking day, evening or weekend programs. Students complete 48 credit hours of sports management requirements, 24 credit hours of electives and nine credit hours of supporting courses. The supporting courses deal with specific facets of sports management, such as gender issues in management and the principles of accounting. Additionally, students take 43 credit hours of general education requirements.

    Eastern Kentucky University

    • Eastern Kentucky University offers a Bachelor of Art in Sports Management degree. The program consists of 30 credit hours of major requirements, including a six credit hour internship. Additionally, students take 18 credit hours of supporting courses. These courses prepare undergraduates to handle the marketing, management and the financial aspects of sports management. Students also take 18 credit hours of required business courses and six credit hours of supporting business courses.

    • Western Kentucky University's sports management bachelor's degree begins with 45 credit hours of general education courses. Then, students take 51 credit hours of core courses. These courses consist of topics directly related to sports management such as facility management and sport governance. Additionally, students take 33 credit hours of electives to solidify their knowledge and better prepare them for their careers.
