Visit a used book retailer. Many used book retailers can be found online that carry outdated APA Style Manuals. Browse a selection published between 2006 and 2007.
Purchase an APA Style Guide published in 2007. The standard guide published by the American Psychological Association provides guidance on word choice, ethics and reducing the bias in language. The guide also details technical rules on how to cite materials referenced in a paper. These rules are updated to incorporate significant changes in media, most notably during the last two decades, and the developments of digital media.
Revise or write the term paper using the guidelines in the APA Style Manual published in 2007. If you have used the 2010 APA style format, read about the changes made between 2007 and 2010.
Use the paragraph character when citing direct quotes from an online source instead of "para." The 2010 version replaced the paragraph symbol with the words "para."
Do not use a DOI (digital object identifier). The most significant change in the 2010 APA guidelines from the 2007 guidelines was regarding the citation of online materials. Use the URL in place of the DOI.
Write headings in italics instead of boldface.
Use Times New Roman or Courier font. In 2007, the APA Style Guide permitted both fonts. In 2010, only the Times New Roman font was accepted.
